Career Systems has been in the forefront of Job Corps innovations, including the establishment of satellites connected to existing centers; adding female students at some of the original male-only centers; large-scale linkage development in local communities; on-site child care; use of small, disadvantaged, and female-owned businesses as subcontractors and early implementation of the zero tolerance for violence and drugs initiative.

Career Systems-firsts in Job Corps include: operation of a center designated to develop and test innovations, operation of the only non-residential center, and operation of a pilot program to enroll and train homeless youth.

Career Systems has been honored for its quality and innovative programming with two awards: the Job Corps National Director's Award for the Best Performing Private Operator for Program Year 1996 and the Job Corps Coalition 1998 Alpha Award as Member of the Year for demonstrating best practices in operating centers and for public advocacy of the Job Corps program.
